He only made $89,000 a year when he was working for the state (not quite 300 percent of the average wage of the taxpayers who funded his salary). But when he retired, the PERS board (in its infinite collective wisdom) decided that he was entitled to $221,000 a year for the rest of his life.
Voting just seems to encourage them.

Sounds like the games they play here in MD. where the democrats redefined about 7000 public servants jobs so that they served "at the pleasure of the Governor". While politically expedient, it brought unexpected results when a Republican was elected.
